IN GOD'S TIMING
Welcome Aboard
David and Vicki Shaffer
David Shaffer was our pastor when we were members at Neuse Baptist in Raleigh, NC. He retired a couple of years ago. He recently was led to join our ministry as a board member for MY Sea Hope and as Deputation Director. Having Dave onboard means presentations can be done even while SEA HOPE is on a mission. We praise the Lord for this huge blessing.
Living On Board
Mary and I have moved onto SEA HOPE. While we wait, we are working on several small projects to put the finishing touches on her, and are looking for opportunities to present the ministry. Please contact me at (336) 706-6504 or Dave Shaffer at (919) 414-3920 if you would like to have a presentation.
While SEA HOPE is in Gulfport we would love to give you a tour. Please consider bringing your youth group, Sunday School class, Ladies Fellowship, or anyone else to see the boat. Gulfport is a wonderful, family friendly place with miles and miles of beach. Just give us a call.
COVID-19
Mary and I both had COVID-19 this winter, but we were blessed that each was a very mild case. Many have suffered greatly from this illness. The COVID travel restrictions are causing a major impact on planning future missions as most countries are currently closed. We are having preliminary discussions with our ministry partners about several possibilities but nothing definite as of yet. Each island/country has their own entrance restrictions and the US has its restrictions for return. We are watching this situation very closely and are anxious to get started, but all in God’s timing.
Future Missions Planning - Puerto Rico
Mary, myself, David Shaffer and Gina Duarte attended the Mission’s Conference at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Carolina, Puerto Rico in late January. It was a great meeting with wonderful preaching and singing. We also started discussions with island Pastors about planting churches. One Pastor from Dominican Republic was very interested and early discussions are in progress for a possible plant along the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
While in Puerto Rico, we visited Puerto Del Rey Marina in Fajardo, and were blessed to arrange berthing at an unbelievable price. This is a world class marina that is extremely safe and located within easy driving range to San Juan and the airport. Additionally, Mary and I met an instructor at Calvary Bible College that is retiring and we arranged to rent her condominium when she leaves the island later this year. Please pray for us as we seek God’s guidance on the right time to relocate SEA HOPE to Puerto Rico. Putting the boat there will reduce the fuel costs and transit times considerably. We desire to be good stewards of God’s resources.
Serving HIM Joyfully,
Buddy and Mary Puryear
